Electricity Bill Problem
Adam’s monthly electricity bill goes up by 10%. The electricity company realise they have made a mistake, and reduce his new bill down 10%. If Adam’s original bill was £60 per month, Adam thinks his new bill will be £60 per month. Is he correct?
Adam’s original bill was £60.
A 10% increase made it £66.
A 10% decrease of £66 is £59.40.
Adam is therefore 60p per month better off.
